I know there isn't exactly a surfeit of options if you want a Slovak-English dictionary from Amazon at present, but please - don't make the same mistake I did and order this. It looks hand-typed when you get it, and is out-and-out just WRONG in a fair few situations according to several native Slovak speakers I showed it to. I'm currently taking Slovak classes in Berlitz while I'm in Slovakia and the teachers here know of this dictionary and think it's hysterically bad.
If you need a Slovak-English dictionary, chances are high it's because you're visiting Slovakia for a while. If that's the case, I'd strongly advise buying a Lingea dictionary once you arrive - the Slovaks use them when they learn English and they're SO much better.
if you are a complete beginner and have no prior knowledge of the Slovak language, it is probably best to avoid this dictionary asit has many limitation's. Firstly, the phonetic spelling of many slovak words is misleading, while the book also has a very limited amount of words. That said, this dictionary is a handy companion for those who have prior knowledge of slovak and who possess a more extensive and useful guide to the language. if you are looking to learn the language from scratch, you are probably best buying a concise phrase book instead! ahoj
This is an excellent dictionary, very well priced. The typeface used in it is Courier, which gives an economy feel to it. It's small and compact - would easily fit in a handbag or coat pocket. Very good for the price.
