Alex Kelly's book, Working with Adults with a Learning Disability, is a practical overview of the main issues that face therapists working with this client group. As a newly qualified speech and language therapist who is starting out in a new post with a large group of clients which has not had any SLT input before, this book is invaluable. It is organised well, easy to read and the information offers a guide to problem solving. It includes rationale for decision-making and provides photo-copiable forms and templates for various assessments, saving me a great deal of time, because I don't have to construct such forms myself.
I'm very happy that I purchased this book. I am sure I will refer to it for years to come.
