Written in Welsh (as you'd expect from the title), this is a very useful pocket-sized bird identification guide. Each species is illustrated using several detailed drawings showing differences between male, female, juvenile and seasonal plumages. The only English in the book is the name of the species on each page as a sub-title to the Welsh name, but as an English speaking bird lover (far from an expert!) who is just starting out to learn Welsh, I've found this book to be of more use to take on a day out than my English-language bird books for identifying species.
From the back cover: * cynifer â 430 rhywogaeth yn cynnwys darluniau lliw manwl o'r adar yn sefyll ac yn hedfan * disgrifiad o bob aderyn sy'n magu yn Ewrop neu sy'n ymweld yn gyson * hyd at 12 llun lliw llawn o bob rhywogaeth er mwyn adnabod eu priodoleddau * symbolau cip sydyn sy'n crynhoi nodweddion a chynefinoedd yr adar * mynegai lliw i'r teuluoedd adar * y cydymaith perffaith wrth fynd am dro ac wrth wylio adar
which, apparently, translates to: * As many as 430 species including detailed color illustrations of standing and flying birds * description of each bird breeding in Europe or visiting regularly * up to 12 full color pictures of each species in order to identify their attributes * quick look symbols summarizing the characteristics and habitats of birds * color index to bird families * The perfect companion when out walking and bird watching
