This book written by Irish journalist Alison O'Connor tells the tale of Father Sean Fortune, an incredibly complex, contradictory and devious man who committed suicide before being almost certainly pronounced guilty of child sex abuse charges.

This is a compelling book that also details other priests' crimes and the incredible tardiness of church leaders to take the matters seriously - forgiving the pun: Father Sean edured a lot of 'fortune' in not being thrown out of the church before he was able to get access to the children he abused. Astonishing but true - hope fully we have now moved on to more enlightened times.

A must read.
