You get the feeling 100 years ago before the age of supervision by mass media this small scale uprising may have snowballed into a popular freedom movement as was witnessed in Ireland in the early 20th century.

Well written by an author who clearly has done a lot of work to ensure the accuracy of the book - A highly recommend read for anyone, Welsh or otherwise, interested in the often unreported history of the countries which make up this small island we share. 5*

Easy to read narrative of the events surrounding the formation of, and actions carried out by, Welsh nationalist groupings, including the MAC and the Free Wales Army from about 1963 to 1969. Not much analysis of the politics behind the campaign. Some good b/w pictures.

An exeptional book and a brilliant read. This book cronicles the underestimated contribution from Wales to guerrilla warfare and revolution. Chapters about the legendary Treweryn incident (A village was drowned to fulfil Liverpool's demands for Water although all MPs in Wales bar one were against the drowning) and of course the pompus investiture of Prince Charles os Prince of Wales and all the other incidents that occured in the turbulent sixties in Wales.
I feel that the Free Wales Army had to much of the lime light in this book. The real hero was John Jenkins and MAC. However, it is well written remarkable true story. How things have changed!

This sets it's stall out as the story of MAC and the FWA. But whoever heard of serious political figures being described as handsome?

Stick with the passions but also the relative objectivity of Gwynfor Evans
