This is a fabulous, well-researched and intelligently written book, combining in-depth military detail with fascinating personal anecdotes. Major Hill's accessible writing style is enhanced by a wealth of appropriate, and often unique, photographic and diagrammatic illustrations. Highly recommended for both those with an interest in Shoeburyness in general and those wishing to expand their knowledge of military history.
This book appeals to me because I grew up round there, and to my husband who has an interest in military history. The fab old photos make it a great book for flicking through as well as for reading in depth.I love this sort of thing!
