Seriously everyone NEEDS this book in their cluttered normal real life!
24 October 2018
I heard about this book whilst listening to the author on Radio 4 and, after so many previous encounters with various books etc which, quite frankly, made me feel like I should have a perfectly pristine house in one chapter and that if I did not I was a house goddess failure, I needed something REAL and normal...
I am after all just a regular mum of a 19 year old stay at home uni student ( a boy - we all know how they can be, with a hubby who works longs hours, woof dog, two cockatiels and a hamster I sort of adopted on a whim. ( I also now work from home in my little new build two up two down aka teeny house as I have some small battle scars after smashing cancer in its face :)
I had researched so many websites, watched so many youtube videos , read so many blogs etc to get some inspiration and each one made me feel overwhelmed. Don't get me wrong I am not a hoarder I have a tiny house and I like stuff and stuff was overwhelming me.
That feeling of an unexpected visitor telephoning saying they were in the area and wanted to pop in brought me into a cold sweat and found me hastily throwing magazines, clean washing, the dog and anything else that was not tied down in the cupboard under the stairs....I bought the book - kindle version (save on clutter) .
I kid you not.... This is a true story... the day after I bought the book after only reading a few chapters... I tipped the chilli seeds all over the floor trying to get to the Daddies brown sauce ( I have several brands but fancied the Daddies)... a few expletives , flash of " Declutter" inspiration and just 20 minutes later I had the BEST sauce/condiments NOW room to store the pasta and rice cupboard thus making room in the "tins" cupboard to actually store the tins that used to be under the stairs on the shelf that is supposed to be for shoes that are in the hallway.... mmmm chain reaction...
Hubby came in to the kitchen opened the cupboard and exclaimed to our son "mum's been really busy! and then closed the cupboard door... opened it... closed it...opened it... *cue my smug smile....and then made me a bacon toastie (using the only brown sauce left (HP!).
You just need this book... simple, real, funny and honest.... laugh out loud and brilliant
