Andrew White reflects the glory of God more than any other Christian writer I know. He is a man wholly given over to Jesus, and because of that God is able to work through him in an extraordinary way.
His book shows the power of God's presence in Iraq and the middle east. He is an academic who loves being with people. He lays out the causes of the conflict and shows the way to resolution - through forgiveness.
But more than that his writing reveals the glory of God - the sheer goodness of God and how He can be trusted. He and his church live in the most appalling conditions; experiencing murder, kidnapping, rape, and deprivation on a scale those of us living in the West cannot imagine. People here get annoyed when their wheelie bins are stolen, yet over there whole houses and districts and families are destroyed, without a second though.
The keynote of Christians belonging to St. George's church is 'Joy', because they are held by the Holy Spirit - they know the presence of Jesus. Even writing of the horrors, and revealing the source of deep injustice, including the attitude of influential leaders of the Anglican church down the centuries (and now even) to Israel, it is the joy of the Lord that spills out of the pages of this book.
Father, Forgive is a seminal work, and the truthfulness of it will annoy many. But for those who love Jesus Christ and who love to glorify God, it is an utter delight. I keep buying copies to give to others.
In this latest book, Andrew outlines the basis of his work as an internationally and highly honored peacemaker. His efficacious work among some of the most horrific and desperate situations of people groups and nations of the Middle East, regardless of their religious beliefs or ethnicity, qualify him admirably to share his expertise. Anyone with the slightest interest in reconciliation at any level, whether it be with nations or neighbors, family or co-workers, will benefit from reading this excellent, easy to read, but very profound book. Assimilation and application of the content will prove of value to those offering and in need of peace and reconciliation in their life experiences. The book is written by an Anglican Priest, who not only acknowledges the working of God, whose Son was the Prince of Peace, but a man who doesn't fit into any mold of traditional churchmanship. The author of this book, is one of the true giants of the Christian faith in the twenty-first century, and who needs listening to at all levels of society.
Andrew White is an incredibly blessed and gifted man and he uses the gifts he has received to work for good in an explosive area. This book is full of his passion for the work he does and for our God whom he serves. I can only read small bits at a time as my life is probably the exact opposite in lots of ways but not all. I would recommend this book for anyone who needs to be uplifted.
Although different from Andrew White's previous books it was very informative about the treatment of Jews by Christians and it was a great help in understanding conflict situations. The book does not speak very much about Baghdad but is none the less very interesting.
This book instilled a deep peace in me. It is very informative being written by someone who has listened to, learned about, lived amongst and loved people from many different backgrounds. This is a special book to read many times.
A wonderful insight into the truth behind peace negotiations. Focused leaders of people who want what is right and just, whilst considering their fellow human beings. When we look to Almighty God for His leading, we shall find the right solutions. It man's greed and self righteousness that prevents regional peace and thus progress.
