This is a book of essays by a number of writers on various topics relating to British film, starting out at the birth of cinema and proceeding through to the current era. Some of the essays are extremely interesting. To name a couple there is one on censorship and another by the Alan Eyeles on Cinema Exhibition. However there are some essays by academics who unfortunately write in a form of language that i would term "acadamese" which is quitre frankly pure gibberish..So anyone who purchases this book will find some chapters of great interest and others which are of no interest at all.
