Is three a crowd? Hilary Emily and Jenny have been friends for years. But Jenny is gifted and her giftedness begins to drive a wedge through the friendship. In places this book is painful and I do feel the other girls were very bitchy and mean towards Jenny in some ways. A good illustration of how envy and resentment can threaten a friendship

This book is ideal for teenages. If you like diarys, this is the one for you! Caroline Cooney writes with extreme style, and if you don't like your friends and want to hear other peoples problems too, this is ideal. The one to read! But sadly, the ending is not good.It ends too fast when I'm sure it could have been continued.

'Among Friends' is a book about a group of three teenage girls, called the Awesome Threesome. the Awesome Threesome have been best friends for years and they are beginning to fall apart. Jenny is shines out from the group and the other two are beginning to resent her for her brilliance. Jenny is teachers pet and everyone is getting sick of hearing about Jenny's marvellous new achievements. This is a story that really stretches their friendship to a limit when jenny can't cope with the resentment anymore and runs away. I would recommend this book to someone between the age of 12 and 16.

This book is brilliant. You have to keep reading it. It intrigues you, interests you, until the end. The idea - 6 teenagers have to keep a diary for English - is basic but the way the author handles it is brilliant. You will love the former Awesome Threesome - 'perfect' Jennie, jealous Hillary and sweet Emily, plus preppy 'supercouple' Jared and Ansley, and Paul 'Classified'.
