Top critical review
A little bit dated, but still a good source
on 9 April 2017
This book was written just after the album Blow Up Your Video, but before Razors Edge, and so only contains material up to that time. The selection of the material is reasonable, although its easy to spot a few concert favorites (e.g. TNT) that are missing.
The quality of the transcriptions is okay, but suffers from being written at a time when the facilities to slow down music were much less common. Consequently the transcriber has made some mistakes particularly with the faster solos, but these can be easily checked by using inexpensive Apps that are available that can slow music down. While the transcription to Heatseeker is written in completely the wrong key. Footage of the band playing the track live will confirm this. Also, and very annoyingly, the book is not a comprehensive transcription of all notes played on these tracks, very often the book does not give the solos that appear at the end of the songs but just says 'solo ad lib'. So if you want to learn how to play everything, you will have to work these bits out yourself.
In summary, this a reasonable book which is probably about 90% accurate, and 95% complete, but be prepared to do your own research if you want to play all the notes perfectly.
