Top critical review
Insufficient content, dissapointing alltogether.

It's like starting to watch a movie of 90 minutes, from the 30th minute, and suddenly, someone interrupts you at the 60th minute and you miss the rest of the movie. How can one review something when the beggining and the ending are not even available?
I had watched the film from British Television before, and was eager to read the actual script- which proved to be dissapointing. The book is covering only a small period of Anne Lister's life: 1817-1824. In this period, Anne's love, Marian is already married with Charles for a couple of years or more (we don't have the opportunity to follow their lesbian relationship before the husband steps between) and when the book finishes, Anne has not even met or mentioned Anne Walker, who is to be her life partner.
The book is all about Anne's hobbies and self-education, and less about her affairs. Yes there were interesting aspects on her everyday life, but altoghether, the book lacks coherence to an annoying degree. Many diary entries were somewhat boring to read, i mean, pointless. Half the pages could be missing, most gladly.
I wonder if someday a book for Anne Lister's life will be published including only the notable moments, from the mishmash of her diaries...
