Extremely badly written and extremely biased
on 19 August 2001
This book is not a guide to what happened in Bosnia; it is a personal recollection of a journalist's addiction to danger and the warzone. At times Loyd shows an almost unsettling [...] joy in being in Bosnia, witnessing atrocities; I am not saying he condones violence, only that his book is an excellent insight in the psychology of a war reporter; why they want to do what they do and put themselves in extreme danger. Otherwise, Loyd succumbs to severe a severe bias towards the Muslims, which is not to be blamed, considering their terrible suffering. But Loyd allows this to cloud his judgement in many cases, and very often he mouths off about Serbs and Croats very immaturely... makes the book more of a personal catharsis-type diary.
