With this book I have finally found a full and evangelical history of the "intertestamental" period.

At 416 pages it is not a "quick read", but I still found it compelling and readable.

What a crucible these 400-ish years were in the development of Judaism.
The book is arranged into three sections: The Background and Setting; The Crises and Responses; and, The Religious Thought.

This is a comprehensive treatment of what happened, historically and theologically to the Jews and Judaism between Malachi and Matthew.
I know of nothing else like it.

The index is exceptionally good too.

Very highly recommended.
