One for all fans of Magic the Gathering, Chainer's Torment is a great insight into the Cabal and the Mirari. Focusing on a young man named Chainer, it's the tale of how absolute power corrupts and destroys, how friendship can be stronger bonds then any, and how one man's choice can change the world. Recommended: a book for everyone, even if your not a player of the game. Full of thrills and chills, it will have you sitting on the edge of your seat till the end. The best in the Odyssey Block series of books. An entertaining book with a slightly different spin. Chainer is a very sympathetic and enjoyable character and his rise through the ranks of The Cabal is an entertaining read. The Mer Empire subplot is less entertaining and in the grand scheme of things not hugely important, which is the less entertaining part of the book.
Chainer's Torment is a great book and well worth reading. The book gives the reader a good view into the life of a Cabalist and how their lives are just positions of the First. Although the book may seem a little hard to follow in parts but the themes of the book are brilliant and there is, in my opinion no better way to have written Chainer's Torment.
