This is an excellent action/adventure/spy thriller story, though it helps if you have been watching the ‘Castle’ TV series, as this is one of the novels written by the fictitious action/adventure/spy thriller story-writer who is the main character of that show. Bearing in mind that this is the comic-book adaptation of a fictitious novel written by a fictitious character, it is actually a very entertaining story, with excellent scripting and artwork, as the creative team have had a blank slate to play with. The writers have managed to capture the ‘feel’ of the TV show very well, and apply it to this story.

THE SPOILER ZONE
Derrick Storm is a PI who has been hired by a wife to find her missing husband. Run of the mill stuff, you might think, until Storm finds him. Then we discover the real plot, that the ‘wife’ is an impostor and the missing husband is actually a CIA operative she wants found. The C.I.A. then show up looking for the agent, as he has gone missing, and Storm soon finds himself working off the books for one of the agents involved in the hunt. It soon escalates into a conspiracy involving illegal payments to the Contras in Nicaragua back in the day, stolen CIA funds, and a (literal) ton of gold… All the stuff you’d expect in an action/adventure/spy thriller type of story.

Anyone who watches "Castle" on TV has heard of the "Storm" books, which were supposedly done from this comic book then made into a film. Whoever thought this scenario up is a genius. Books that are written, and printed for real, by a character, in the character's name from a TV programme is just short of amazing. 5 ***** for ingenuity.

Worth the wait. The makers of Castle have tapped into a great thing with this book giving more of the Storm books to its eager fans. Can't wait for Amazon to send out more Richard Castle books. A must for any fan of the series.
