With Peter Parker now a student as well as a teaching assistant at Empire State University this volume introduces several new characters as well as bringing back several foes from Spidey's past in some memorable tales.
There's a new complication for Peter's love life with Debra Whitman and a strained relationship with fellow teacher Marcy Kane; MJ also briefly appears on the scene.
Peter also briefly switches allegiance to the Daily Globe and its editor Barney Bushkin although JJJ still puts a few appearances in.
Old favourites Dr. Octopus, Meteor Man (Guest starring Giant Man aka Bill Foster/Black Goliath), The Lizard (Spider-Man changes into the Spider-Lizard, also featuring the Iguana), Mindworm, Morbius, Electro (now part of the Frightful 4 featuring the Fantastic 4), Vulture, the Prowler, Silvermane, Mysterio and the Terrible Tinkerer as well as the Cobra, Swarm and Gideon Mace and new danger from Belladonna, Rapier and the Smuggler. Keep an eye on 2 railway employees Artie & Sam whose names old Marvelites may recognise.
The Gideon Mace tale brings Spidey's friend the White Tiger back on the scene, this volume also includes the brief White Tiger mini-series.
Several of these tales tie in to events from the main Spider-Man title but the flashbacks help with the continuity. The artwork for a few of the stories does not transfer too well to black & white but that's a minor grumble for the price, the stories are all entertaining and there's even a decent ghost story included.
