Doesn't Cover The Whole Exam
on 8 February 2006
I bought this book to study the MCDST and was very dissapointed with it. It really only skims the surface of what is in the exam and misses out many areas (eg the book does not even have a passing mention to Automated System Recovery, Hardware Abstract Layers and many others). I found this out when I bought some practise questions and previous exams off of eBay and I am so glad I did before taking the exam or I am sure I would have failed.
The entire book is only 450 pages with around 180 devoted to each exam (compare this to the W Glenn books which are 800 odd pages per exam). You can learn a bit about Windows XP but if you only ever study this book you will be using the Windows help often and you certainly won't be able to properly support users whith the knowledge inside you head. I personally prefer to know everything than just get by.
