This is a re-issue of an early book by Mrs Brockmann titled 'It came upon a midnight clear'. The story centre's on Billy 'Crash' Hawken and Nell Burns. This book is slightly different from most of it's predecessors as a lot of the story focuses on the events of the previous year. I found that this in no way distracted me from enjoying the book immensely. Nell and Crash's time together evolves around a bitter sweet sub plot involving Crash's cousin Daisy and her husband Admiral Jake Robinson. A large amount of the plot is nail biting stuff, which makes you want to race to the end, while making you wish their was an extra couple of hundred pages in between. A very enjoyable book from the Tall Dark and Dangerous series.
