A lot of random facts that will interest the traveller looking for something different from the norm. Only downside is more details would be better but would make the book too big for a travel guide.

I stumbled across OTP site a few weeks back, enjoyed their site, got this book and have loved every moment.

The authors provide a rousing account of the positives one can gain through traveling, the benefits of embracing the vagabonding lifestyle and suggest a multitude of routes in which you can make a difference whilst jaunting, whilst maintaing an air of cool yet accessible content which intensify your inner desire to hit the road.

Discovering this work was serendipitous and I would recommend it to any young traveler, virgin vagabond or experienced nomad, as the book is full of useful content that serves to enlighten those who, and those who may not, harbour ambitious to see the world.

Extremely America-centric, this book really doesn't have much to offer a UK citizen. Of a three part book, only the first third is relevant to non-USA persons. Prices are in dollars, medicines use USA brand names and the volunteering & study abroad sections will be useless for people studying at UK universities. We cannot join the Peace Corps, are not eligible for the STEP program, and if we tried to get a passport with a DS-11 form we would not get very far. If you can pick this up for a few quid, the opening sections about the destinations are a lot of fun and inspiring for travel, but don't pay full whack for something you can't use reliably as a reference guide.

This is the perfect companion for the typical, young, sexy and broke, traveller! The book is a concise bible with hints and tips from loads of different destinations; east to west. It is much more practical than having a backpack filled with a dozen different 'Lonely Planet' offerings and ideal if you or someone you know is planning a trip across various continents. The layout is fun and engaging, the book appeals to young people who travel in ways that usual travel writing doesn't, a must have, even when backpack space is precious!

The book looked really interesting yet I stumbled into this passage which tacitly condones prostitution which is really sad especially since later there is a section on doing good whilst travelling. 'Malaysians bring kink back into the bedroom and the beach. Just don't frown if there's a price - what comes next will be well worth the coin' (pg. 170) Prostitution in south-east asia isn't some amusing cultural spectacle, in most cases it's an outcome of extreme poverty and it horrifies me a book could treat the issue so lightly.
