This guide is 164 pages long. Of these, the first 84 pages contain no more information than is provided in the instruction manual packaged with the game. In fact, the game is supplied with a full-colour technology tree poster which lays out the information contained within the first 84 pages of the guide in a much better fashion.
The actual "strategy" section itself occupies only 10 pages and contains mostly factual information (easily gleaned from playing the opening missions) rather than containing sound tactical advice.
The following 74 pages contain pedantic walkthroughs of each of the relatively linear missions that most players should beat with no real difficulty. Box-out tips contain gems like "complete upgrades and research at your base... these improve your units".
Two pages on multiplayer tactics. Two. "Because you don't begin with a base, the first thing you need to do is build one". Finally, there are 20 pages detailing the skirmish maps.
My main problem with this book is that it contains no secrets you wouldn't have known from reading the manual, no tactics for attacking or defending against particular units, nor sufficient recommendations for online play, a major reason that many will have bought the game. There was a time when Prima "Strategy" guides were good, I fear now that they are "game" guides they are glorified (and often inadequate) instruction manuals.
