Having played Everquest over 10 years ago, my son has now wanting to start playing an online MMORPG & what better than the game that really started subscription based content so well all that time ago?!
I bought this through marketplace for my son to get some familiarity with the vanilla game & he loves it - pouring over the detail for hours and hours!
"Everquest: Trilogy-Getting Started: Prima's Official Strategy Guide" is aimed squarely at those players just starting out. The book covers the first ten levels of a player characters 'life'. It includes helpful hints and tips for basic 'etiquette' within the game as well as advice on choosing a character. Each of the various character classes are examined in detail with hints on best ways to play them and which race suits each class best. Races are examined individually, listing any benefits each race has and what disadvantages they may face. Spells for each of the classes are listed and more detailed information is provided in the appendices. Skills are also listed along with the level they are acquired at. The guide covers all three expansions for the game and has detailed maps for many but not all of the area's within the game. Invaluable for when you are lost in a new zone. Abbreviations for various spells or phrases from within the game as well as various commands are also listed and explained. Overall an excellent purchase for a new player. Those who have been playing Everquest for a while though will still find much of the tips and advice useful, the maps particularly are an excellent resource.
