Bought this book to help me with a specific problem.

Have since used it to help me diagnose/fix/replace and maintain several other issues in the last 6 months.

Working on these cars can seem quite daunting at first but with this book with it's step by step pictorial guides for reference there are so many jobs you can do yourself.

And other that may have had you heading straight to the main dealer can be trusted to a local garage once you understand what's involved,

A real must have for any 986 or 987 Boxster owner.

Must have for any boxster owner due to lack of workshop manuals out there. Good clear guidance with pictures. Also includes torque settings for many jobs plus hints and tips. Only gripe is that it is mainly aimed at 986 Boxster, although a lot of the methods are similar.

This is the must have book for any Boxster owner that intends to do work on the car themselves. You cannot get a 'Haynes' manual for the Boxster and the only alternatives is a VERY expensive manual (£100+) or one of the CD types you can get from auction sites. I initially bought one of those and it was little more than a parts catalogue with exploded views of the various parts of the car.
I have a 2003 'S' and have made many visits to the various on line forums to sort out the little worries and issues that you have to expect when owning one of these types of cars. Whenever I have looked a pelican parts or similar, this book would be quoted and showed the really clear, COLOUR, pictures with clear descriptions, step by step directions and arrows showing the various points you need to look at. It's written in plain English at a level that keen amateurs will understand and gives you confidence to tackle the jobs that maybe you wouldn't have before.
It shows each project with a panel at the beginning showing the level of expertise needed, the time it will take and the cost. It also shows the benefit of each project and what, if any, additional mods or additional work you can do while you are 'in there'.
Don't think this is about messing about with your car, souping it up or turning it in to some kind of racing car, it's not. These are the kind of jobs you would be likely to reach for the Haynes manual to do in any case for the normal jobs you'd want to do just to keep your Porsche in top order.
If you own a Porsche and have had it serviced at a main dealer, you'll know they perform a top to toe check and advise you on all the jobs they think you may want to consider on your car. An example of this is the drive belt, Porsche wanted £90 to change it but using this book, buying an OEQ (Original Equipment Quality) belt for £12.50, I did it in 30 mins EASILY, following the clear simple instructions in the book. When you consider I bought this book for around the same price as the belt, I saved £65 on that one job alone!
The book is quality throughout and is far superior to anything else out there for these cars. I'm sure that if, like me, you own an older Boxster and cannot afford to spend thousands sending it of to the dealer but don't want to entrust it to some multiple chain with spotty 'technicians' having a go at it, or a backstreet garage who've never seen one on the ramp before, then this gives you an excellent alternative and allows you to know what you are doing.

Lots of useful information in this book. I really like it. However, some of the "projects" are huge and I think you'd be crazy to use this book to guide you through unless you really really know what you're doing.

This book promises loads, but delivers great value, but not in the way you expected.

The book presents many tasks on the boxster, each as a project.

The information within each project is typically all you would need if you were an experience mechanic or someone who does all their own car maintenance, but if you are a beginner, this is no workshop manual so buy a Bentley manual instead!

However, this is a great book to read through and get to know the boxster - and get an insight into the various tasks.

Like I said - if you are a real novice, then this probably wont give you enough to do the job.

A Great and Most useful Book. A lot cheaper than the also Excellent Bentley Manual and more in keeping with what a Boxster Owner may attempt on their own Car. Excellent Detail and Pictures with further Items available for Free Access on the Internet. If you own a Boxster you need this Book and Remarkable Value.

If you have an older Boxster this very comprehensive book, along with access to the writer's website, should give you all you need to carry out your own repaurs and maintenance as well as detailed ideas for modifications and add-ons. I have just used it to convert my lighting to HIDs and both the article and photos ( some on the website ) told me all I needed to know.

Not bad but lacking in detail in many areas and important information sometimes difficult to find eg torque settings. More of a "reasonable read" as opposed to a workshop manual. No substitute for Bentley.

This book is a must have, if you intend to service and do repairs on your own porsche boxster. I have just completed a major service including plug change.Whith the advice and guidance given by some one who realy knows how to communicate to the diy mehcanic. It was a pleasure to read and own this book. Plus the savings made by not having to rely on main dealer and porsche specialists.
