This series has come a long way from when it first started. With an increasing number of stories to choose from and more experienced writers choosing to submit the entries chosen have become better and better. For this collection entries were by invitation only and it shows, the stories have a polished and professional tone. The least good of the entries are readable and interesting the best are absolutely fantastic and draw you back to read them again and again.
There are a good number of stories contained in the collection and each range from very short (a couple of pages) to short (about the length of a chapter in another book) so it is easy to pick a story that looks interesting and read it in between others things without having to leave the story half finished and come back later. That said they tended to be so good that I would settle down to read one and a good hour (and several stories) later would drag myself away to before starting yet another story.
If you have read other collections in this series get this one too it's fantastic. If you haven't but enjoy fantasy writing and want to try something new this is a great introduction both to the series and to a whole range of new authors.
