Written in plain English by someone without pretense or deep pockets. This is a handy book, though I was actually looking for something dedicated solely to Scottish whisky.

This book is very well presented, with neat double pages for each and every single whisky discussed.

The author makes a clear case about the selection of whiskies, which explains the rationale of the book, and how it works.

Every whisky - coming from most parts of the world overall - is introduced with few words about the brand, the distillery, the production process, and the drink itself. There are some tasting descriptive elements and room to write down one's own comments.

Pleasant and informative.

(4 stars because I always find it difficult to "love" a book...)

Not pretentious and easy to follow. A guide to 101 whiskies to avoid would be a good follow up. Good book for someone who wants to think a bit and understand whiskey.

This is an interesting reference book and a great starting place for anyone with a interest in whisky.. Well written, well laid out a majority of the whiskies mentioned in the book are accessible to be purchased easily without the need to go to specialist retailers. Would recommend as a present tp anyone with a interest in whisky.

Not knowing many whiskies to buy I decided to purchase this book.it covers a mind boggling array of facts and figures but more important what they taste like.the only drawback is they are not specific as to where they can be bought.

This book does what it it claims to represent. It does not claim to represent the most desired whiskies of the world but an extremely interesting insight into 101 of them. Got to go now as I have a further 74 whiskies to try!

It is nice to see whisky recommendations that are within the reach of the average person's pocket. Secondly, it was hugely refreshing to find there is at least one author who has steadfastly refused to follow the trend of using meaningless adjectives to describe whiskies. Instead, you'll find an eminently readable guide explained using simple, understandable everyday terminology to convey the aromas and tastes of each whisky. A well-considered and nicely balanced guide in simple, understandable language and completely free of pretentious twaddle.

Smaller than expected, however, this book is a must for any whisky fan wishing to try them all before they die! Great little book!
