A real disappointment
on 24 November 2005
The one plus point about this book was that it was well written. The negatives are that it was completely far fetched and utterly unbelievable. I found the references to IVF insensitive and totally unnecessary to the storyline; clearly the author has no experience of this herself because if a woman had gone through the traumatic and emotional experience of 4 unsuccessful cycles of IVF her friends and family certainly wouldn't be telling her to 'forget about having a baby because she was a bit obsessed', which is exactly what happened in this book. And even more unbelievably that's exactly what the character did!
I was also looking forward to reading about Nepal but there were more detailed descriptions of the handsome tour guide than the country itself! It's not often I write negative reviews and I have read other books by this author which I've enjoyed, but I have to say this is definitely not one of her best.
