Not backed up by research

This is an interesting book containing a credible theory about the link between breast cancer and diet, in particular consumption of dairy products.
Unfortunately clinical research does not support the theory. Some studies have found an apparent link between breast cancer and high dairy consumption, others - in particular a massive study of nearly 49,000 women in Norway - suggest that dairy products may actually have a protective effect. I believe researchers are now investigating alternative (lifestyle) reasons for the low level of breast cancer in China.
When (as I have been) you are diagnosed with breast cancer you'll try anything to try to increase your chances of survival. I have no reason to doubt that the diet is healthy and it would probably do wonders for your fat and cholesterol intake. There are some lifestyle recommendations in the book as well which would probably contribute to your well-being.
But if you find following the diet too hard you can console yourself with the fact that there's no real evidence that it helps. If you want to see the actual research, check out the Vegan Society website which includes a 7 page section summarising all the research to date (type milk & "breast cancer" into a UK-specific search engine). And if you are uneasy about Professor Plant's claims that all those women who followed the diet recovered from their cancer, check out any UK breast cancer forum and sadly you'll find examples to the contrary.
