Interesting book although not as entertaining as some i have read. Well written book although disappointing when in some the killer is not caught.

Mr. Oates manages to write an exceeding boring book about fascinating cases. He should follow a writing course. The layout of the book is oldfashioned and reinforces the boring writing

Fascinating book specially when I know of or have visited the villages where the events took place. Have almost finished it now and ready to tackle the next on my Kindle list.
Very nasty crimes were committed 16/17/18th Centuries, make you wonder just how the Police managed to solve them without modern day science. I would imagine that quite a number of innocent people were executed through prefabricated information and unreliable eye witness accounts, makes you shudder at the thought.
A thoroughly good read and well worth purchasing particularly if the reader is either Buckinghamshire born or lives/lived in the county and can visit some of the scenes of crime.

Our curiosity was roused as a there is a family connection to one of the stories. An interesting book if you are a Bucks resident.
