Its a really good comprehensive overview of 8000 years of prehistoric Cumbria just as the title states. It is easy to follow and has already given me places to visit and study with a new insight, places I thought I was very familiar with. Modern study has thrown a different light on the county's archaeology but it builds on the work of the past and the present.
I wondered what life was like in the past in Cumbria and this book goes far in providing that information. Moreover it also gives a picture of ritual and belief in times past that underpinned prehistoric society.
