I should start off by making it clear that I know the author. While he has helped me with my own research, I have helped him also. It has been a privilege to see this book develop into the final product. I know how much effort has gone into producing it, the author's first book; and it is a fine one.
Leviathan's history has often been overlooked, with a few important exceptions. The late Frank Braynard produced a remarkable six-volume series chronicling her career in extraordinary detail; and another volume examining Leviathan and her two sister ships which included a delightful chapter on her history with some great anecdotes. However, Brent Holt's book helps fill a remaining gap, for it is the first single volume that looks in such detail at this ship's career.
A fine selection of photographs, illustrations and comparison deck plans combine with a well-crafted, informative text that dispels myths and chronicles the extraordinary ups and downs of this ship's remarkable career.
