The information is there but I don't have the mental energy to extract it. It's a shame it's not laid out a bit clearer and methodically because this could be a handy reference book.

This book assumes a lot of knowledge which I do not have. However, by looking various things up in other books I can just about hang on to its coat tails!! An excellent compact little text of basic radio principals.

for a long time. Despite it's slightly misleading title,(purely from this radio amateurs point of view) here is a book that is a must for those that would like to develop their interest in amateur radio communications and acquire enough theoretical knowledge to pass the radio and electronics section of any amateur radio examination. As this book covers about 80-85% of the requirements for a pass in any amateur radio theory exam at grade 1 level, can you afford, not to have it in your hands for study purposes. It has numerous pictures and diagrams, it is laid out in an easy to read and easy to understand language style, and really cannot be faulted for the wealth of information about radio communications and how it all works. All topics and principles discussed in the book are of use to all beginners with an interest in broadcasting be it amateur radio or commercial, and is so easily accessible once you get between the covers. I have no hesitation in reccommending this book to all students of radio technology of all ages.

I have a few problems with this book. Firstly, If you have no knowledge of radio engineering of any sort then this boook is not for you. There is not enough time spent on the fundemental basics of the subject, which I might add are the most important parts. It's like been taught the basics of multiplication then been asked to do integral calculous. The first 60 pages of the book are very clear and well written but it all goes down hill from there. One example is the use of term decibels every 5 seconds, the author had never explained how decibels are used and how there are calculated. This leaves you reading along not fully understanding what the hell he is on about. I am currently working as an instrumentation Engineer and attend college once a week to study Btec National electronics. Even with the knowledge I have gained I do not know enough even for this apparently basic book. Be warned!!!!!
