I bought this book for my daughter's school Latin project on Roman Medicine and Healthcare (Scottish Standard Grade - age 15). This book has very readable good information and cites Primary evidence (direct quotes, good photographs of Roman art/statues/inscriptions/surgical instruments) which goes down very well in the assessment process. She used several other books obviously but this one was well worth it, and nice to use.
Another brilliant edition to this series. Very informative yet accessible. Text well complimented by a wide range of relevant pictures. Suitable for teachers and pupils studying the Medicine Through Time unit.
I'm teaching GCSE Medicine Through Time and this is ideal, alongside the other four in the series. I can't believe they are out of print. Wonderful quality and full of sources to discuss, or just to use in the primary classroom (though the language may be too complex, and dense, for anything lower than Y6). It's not scary like an exam textbook and answers the questions that it poses. A lovely book, and even better as part of the set.
