This is one of those books that you turn to when life challenges arrive at your door, as they inevitably do. A very beautiful book, a depth of insight that takes it above the usual bestsellers , which can be quite basic in describing the torment we all have to pass through before coming out on the other -side.
Very, very grateful to the author , an unusual balance between psychology and spiritualism , applicable to whichever faith and for those of no faith.

Thomas Moore is a practicing therapist with a broadly Jungian approach to his work. But he brings a broad and singular mix of influences and insights that combine to make his perspective in this book unique. His long experience - therapeutic, scholarly, religious, and spiritual - have provided us with a profound study, both embracing and transcending life's travails. For anyone seriously trying to come to terms with their and others' suffering, this book should be their first port of call.

Though I haven't yet had time to read this book, I really love books by Thomas Moore, so I look forward to getting into it.

I like how this book has opened-up my perception about painful things. It's worth it to just get you to open up your view of things rather than stay stuck in victim mentality.

I don't like that at times the author discusses Greek mythology and found myself skimming over some parts of this. Of course, that's personal preference, others may like the comparison.

I really liked the book overall and would recommend it to friends - especially those who may feel a bit down.

This is one of the most helpful books I have ever read and I have read some on self-help and such subjects. Thomas Moore writes things you would never believe could be true, of any help, then, you think about them and realise what a wise man he is.
Not a book for the faint hearted or those trying to convince themselves they are ok, or doing it right and everyone must love them. Read this and have your life turned over. It's okay to be you. Forget self-help and being chirpy all the time.

This book may answer you about the reason behind experiences, show you there were others who were on closely similar road as you are, and teach you on persistance in your life journey.
Recommened for anyone going thru intensive spiritual period, especially for solitarists without teachers and mentors.

Another inspiring book....how to find the positive when life throws you a curve ball but not in a "new agey" way.
