In general the shire books are excellent providing a brief overview of a subject of interest with lovely illustrations. As someone with a personal connection to the Quakers I was delighted when I spotted this book. However the book is inaccurate with glaring errors, for example that it was American Quakers who were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for their work at the end of the second world war. In fact the prize was awarded jointly to the (British) Friends Service Committee and the American Friends Service Committee. Such a shame that someone with inside knowledge of the Religious Society of Friends was not asked to write, or at least comment on this book.
