This is a really fascinating book on domestic bygones full of clear black and white photographs. Chapters are devoted to the Hearth, Cooking at the Fire, Preparing Food, Eating and Drinking, Lighting, Washing with lists of further reading and places to visit. Although only small and only 32 pages long it really is a phenomenal little book, explaining the evolution and technology that has shaped the world of domestic tools and items to how we know them today, although many became obscure along the way. The social history of our Domestic Bygones has never been so interesting. I would also recommend that anyone who reads this may also further like to read, The Illustrated History of the Housewife by Una A Robertson

This is a very good little book. It is trying to cover a lot so can't go into too much detail, but it does help with some objects that are pretty obscure these days.

Nice photos but they are quite short works and the binding is relatively cheap. Good for design ideas though and an easy history lesson.
