This book should be essential for anyone seeking to understand the current global security situation we find ourselves in. Despite being written prior to 9/11 Rogers' analysis does a better job of explaining the US response to, and the underlying causes of, terrorism and insecurity in the 20th century than most more recent publications.
His long-term view of international relations and balanced, objectivity style make this an ideal book for those trying to form an overall understanding of the security challenges we will be facing this century (1945-2045).
A definite 'must read' for those who work, study or have a general interest in the realm of international security/ relations. The book is not only informative, but also a breath of fresh air offering an alternative way to understand the international system in the coming century. Excellent.
