The fitness training book for all high altitude expeditions
on 13 August 2013
I bought this book after becoming increasingly frustrated at the amount of videos/blogs/websites etc of peoples exploits at high altitudes BUT A COMPLETE LACK of fitness/endurance training material that goes in-depth to help you. Also something from reputable sources that you know you can rely on.
This book goes more indepth than I was expecting a whole lot more indepth, it has photos of training exercises and why you should use these exercises, training plans, psychological elements, its just an endless list really that this book goes into which I simply cannot document on here, lots of little hints and tips including how to help protect yourself from the dreaded altitude cough also known as the Khumbu cough which I myself have suffered with really badly in the past.
The fitness and endurance chapters amongst others were written by Chips Rafferty, quite often described by many, as the fittest man in the British Army having led numerous high altitude expeditions along with training the SAS in fitness. I think that says it all really.
Just buy this book you will not be disappointed if you are serious about high altitude expeditions to the likes of any of the 7 summits or similar.
