This is a great book. It walks through the first term - the first week is day by day, then by week until a Christmas play at the end of term. Then holidays!
It is very sensitively written, it follows a group of 6 or so children and what they do - each is different and it reassures your child that they don't need to be able to do everything; for example, one can read, the others cannot. Some like swimming, one "thinks about getting in the pool". Sometimes they are happy, sometimes sad, sometimes grumpy. Sometimes the teacher has a bad day too. It also has things like the children being shown where the loo is, and where to hang their coats, which will be comforting to children who might worry about the unknown.
The only thing is that it doesn't mention uniform, but then again, this isn't always applicable.
