Son loves this book, read it almost every night before he started school and continue to do so, comparing whats different in his school to the one in the book! Great buy!

A great book for little ones starting school for the first time because it doesn't just cover the firs tday or so - it continues through to Christmas so will be re-read all through the first term. Also, all is not sweetness and light - tiredness, cross teachers and arguments are all included! Great pictures a sone expects from this team!

This book is amazing. I like it when the children do a school play at Christmas time.

A nice idea but there are better books out there for starting school.

A great book for pre-schoolers. Goes carefully and simply through many possible anxieties about school. Cleverly doesn't raise worries - just presents situations which might cause anxiety and illustrates how they aren't a problem. For example, some children in the story only want to "think about" doing something rather than to actually "do it".

An OK book - I hadn't realised how old school it was (no pun intended).

The author attempts to convey multiculturalism by showing children with a variety of skin tones, ethnic names, and ways of dressing. However, for me the Asian girl, Sushma wears a sari, is rather a rude stereo typing. The focus of this book should be what typically happens at school rather than trying to teach kids about stereotype multiculturalism, in my opinion rather wrongly. This is an older book and there are definitely better options for books about kids starting school.

Got this book for my daughter who starts school in sept. She likes 'reading' the book herself using the pictures and the book does a good job of describing the sorts of things the children might do in reception. The book needs updating in terms of showing school uniform and the teacher collecting the dinner money but these are small things and overall the book is helpful although not terribly exciting
