Not just for Christmas!
on 2 November 2013
Measuring in around 28.75 cm x 21.75 cm, colourful durable covers open to 61 numbered, quality shiny pages, packed full of things to read and do, with just a hint of Christmas on the cover and just inside.
The contents page shows two columns of the features with a chance to join the dots and wave goodbye on the very last page.
Page 6 usefully introduces you to 'Peppa's Family', and page 7 has some 'friends' - if you are new to Peppa and do not know them all already.
Dotted around the three new stories:
* The Wishing Well
* Captain Daddy Dog
* Mr Fox's Shop
are oodles of things to do, like:
* joining the dots
* games, like 'S-s-s-s-slippery Snakes and Ladders' (start to finish : 1-32) & 'Treasure Hunt'
* activities like 'spot the odd one out' or 'spot the difference', 'Castle Maze', 'Building Sandcastles' & 'Matching Vases'
* counting opportunities
* drawing, and colouring-in activities, including one 'by numbers' (just like the old days!)
(Any answers to puzzles are supplied, upside down at the bottom of the page)
So maybe it is time to get your 'wellies' out and join Grandpa Pig in an educational little exercise which doesn't involve 'icky, sticky, muddy footprints everywhere' (for that you need to turn to p46!) in -
'Peppa's Muddy Welly Pots
Grandpa Pig loves planting things in his garden. You can try growing your own plants in some wellington boots just like Peppa's!
Ask a grown up to help you follow these simple instructions....'
Then follows what you will need, suggestions for things to plant......and step-by-step pictures of 'what to do'.
I particularly like 'Bonjour Peppa!' on page 35, where we find Captain Dog teaching Peppa and Danny Dog how to say 'hello' in a variety of languages.
'Making a Scene', on page 39 involves colouring in & cutting out the various pictures and sticking them onto the previous page, so something for the more ambitious too, if you don't mind cutting up your book!
The 'Captain Daddy Dog' story needs a little more concentration too (IMO!)
At less than £4 (at the time of writing) this represents amazing value for a book packed full of things to keep your little one(s) engrossed for a good length of time, depending on age.
