The book is an average sized paperback that seems to have been collected from many varied sources. The title to me suggested what to do each month in the garden. This in part is true as about 30% of the book is divided in monthly chores. The rest of it described garden tools and plants much like any other book does, but not as well. I would stick to the old Dr Hessayon garden books rather than buy this one.

This book is wedded to supermarket shopping, no mention of the myriad of shops which also sell food.
We are told that much of the food sold in supermarkets can actually be harmfull for your health.

This book is OK. If you are not only a novice to being frugal but you're fresh out of secondary school then some of the advice is good. But things like "pans boil more quickly with the lid on" and "this is what a use by date means" - really? I'd expect any semi-functioning adult to know this stuff.

I suppose if you one doesn't know these things or for the slightly more unusual advice around keeping chickens etc it's a good starter for ten but it won't be a book you pull off the shelf time and time again. Sorry.

Simple and un inspiring common sense. If you haven't worked it out already this book will help you think about it. If you have, don't bother buying it.

Sounded like a really interesting book, but we found it quite tideous to read, it looks and feels like an old book, it went straight out to the charity shop

Bought as a Christmas present for partner. Have bought other books by John Harrison and found them to be good and informative.
