I have been in ministry for a long time, and have the original Patterns for Worship. This I feel is much better and the resource section is really good and as with all Common Worship offerings it is a pick and mix resource which is where it wins hands down. If you are in ministry or have to devise and develop services then this is a distinct aid and advantage, buy it!!
This is a first class resource when preparing CofE services. Especially service of the word. The four cases studies show different ways of using Common Worship, including a humurous account of how not to do it.
The resources section is excellent. Laid out in blocks by type, Greeting, penitence, statements of faith etc,
This is the toolkit when the liturgy is not set out in detail.
I found this book on Amazon and was pleased that it was not only available but alos at a lower price than I had seen it advertised elsewhere I ordered it on a quote 4 or 5 day shipping time and was pleasantly surprised when it arrived the following day. This was also during the Christmas rush
There is no question that New Patterns if Worship is an excellent resource and guidance for anyone needing to plan a service. My comment is very positive for the book, not so re the seller. I ordered and paid for a new book, I was sent a used one. I have made the seller aware of this and never got a response.
Have needed something to help me design new services for the worship of God and this book is extremely usefull. There are alot of choices that can be used and with it being the Church of England official publication I feel more confident in my choices. This is a good resource book.
This paper back edition is good is value for money. It's easy to use, contains clear guidlines on how to use it and is full of useful resources and also examples of how they may be used. It opens up new possibilities and inovative ideas.
