This book is truly invaluable for any creative embroiderer. It covers a wide range of techniques for creating textured surfaces for stitch including using tyvek, plastics, softsculp, bonding and puff paint. Each method is clearly explained and supported with detailed photographs. The book is positively bursting with ideas and suggestions and is beautifully illustrated with photos guaranteed to get any embroiderer reaching for their sewing kit! Particularly useful to anyone studying for C & G Creative Embroidery.
Always interested in a new form of stitchery to attempt and see the results . Intrigued by the use of Tyvek paper and fabric. Amazing how it can alter with heat and then be adorned with stitches, beads etc. Yet more processes into which to delve! Long live experimentation!
I'm so pleased that I decided to buy this book. Although it was first published back in 2000, and other books have been written on the subject, it has very clear experimental projects for the modern embroiderer to try. I highly recommend it to anyone who is studying City and Guilds, or similar, textile courses. I'm looking forward to trying all the techniques.
As others have said, an inspirational book. Giving details of some unusual techniques and different mediums for the textile and mixed media artist: tyvek, plastics of various types, bondaweb etc. the book shows techniques to try as well as some projects. All written in a clear manner with beautiful detailed photographs.
