This excellent, beautifully presented book recently won the "Inspirational Book of the Year 2010" at the Garden Media Award. The judges said the following "The winning book fulfils the criterion to inspire on many levels. It brings English Heritage's gardens to the reader's attention and explores their fascinating history through well-written, readable text and clever panels that the reader can dip in and out of. It's well designed and good looking enough to grace any coffee table, with excellent photos. It brilliantly achieves a tricky job: to be a factual book about gardens and their history that's also a great read." Having read it, I agree. The garden lovers in my family will be getting a copy for Christmas.
Although I like visiting gardens in England (and I regularly do), this book was bought for two reasons: to support English Heritage but also as a coffee table book. It is a beatiful book with beautiful pictures. So a conversation piece in itself.
