As a Star trek fan who hadn't read any of this series it looked a good bet for a holiday read, even though the irritating Shelby character features prominently. It was just that. The first 4 books in the series went on holiday with me and they were good poolside reads (now taken by an Italian family home to read.) The characters forma good star trek ensemble but i would recommend starting from the first in the series. The back story established in Book 1 of the series is important with appearances by Picard and Spock to set the scene. The series is still running I think - well into 'saga' territory. There wasn't anything new in the format - just a good solid addition to the Star Trek multiverse. The books seem quite slim and each is easily read in a day. The second hand copy i purchased was in excellent condition and delivered quickly. I would happily use this seller again.

I am a big fan of the New Frontier series, and this book does not disappoint. It ties up loose ends from the first three books, and gives an excellent base for the later novels. The reappearance of D'ndai also helps to solidify some of the plot details. Well done Peter David!
