Having been to Australia recently, I tried many of the restaurants that are featured in the book and I have to say that Australian chefs have to be the most innovate in the world - their food is divine and this cookbook is exceptional - the recipes actually work and I totally recommend it to any food love

The pictures are lovely, both of the food and the pictures of Australia. Published in Australia in 2003, it has stood the passage of time, not sure if I will cook any of the recipes but I'm enjoying looking through the book.

This is a beautiful book to have in your recipe collection (if you are a cookbook junkie like me). The photos are fantastic and the recipes are very different to the usual fare in most cookbooks. The feel of the book is very summery and Australian and you can wistfully imagine yourself sipping a glass of chardy while delicately eating the beautiful dishes on a beautiful day.

So, why the 3 stars? Well, I've had this book for about 3 years now and haven't ventured to try a single recipe. It's very "chefy" - if you are an experimental cook and love sourcing different ingredients you'll love it. If, however, you are like me and enjoy cooking but know your limits then you'll find it a bit daunting.

Having said that, if you're after a bit of an escape and fancy a cookbook that'll give you a dreamy couple of hours with a glass of wine in hand then this is a good investment.

Australia seems to be THE country for foodlovers at the present time and this book captures some of the essence of 'Australian Cuisine' (meaning: throw away the rule book and start mixing flavours and influences from countries around the world). We love this book and use it a lot for inspiration and simply cooking the receipes in the book.
