I bought this book in a fit of panic during my finals - the lectureres notes were apalling and incomplete and the recommended text - Evans - was a rambling out of date illogical mess...
This book though is a fantastic introduction to ore deposit geology. Readable, interesting, thorough and up to date. Brilliant explanation of lateritic ores and very good for metallic ores, VMS. etc. Enough detail for more advanced readers and experienced geologists as well.
It helped me pass with a top grade despite Jens' ( some of you will know who I mean...) best efforts to confuse us - what more do you want?

I am not a geologist, and have only a basic understanding of physical geology. The fact that I was able to understand this book almost perfectly (some specialised terminology needed to be looked up) speaks for the clarity of style and of the explanations.

The content is extensive, and addresses the important points of ore formation: the mechanisms of deposition, why certain forms of deposition take place, and, importantly, where different deposit types are found. This is backed up by numerous diagrams and case studies which both aid understanding and provide useful context.

The organisation of the book is, at times, a little peculiar or seemingly haphazard, a fact which the author recognises. This does not have any significant impact on understanding, and would be utterly unimportant for a student who wished to read only on a specific type of ore deposit.

Finally, Introduction to Ore-Forming Processes delivers its content in a way which is not only accessible but also interesting. It is not often that I find a textbook as engrossing as a novel, but this is one of those cases.

The compendium did a complete surgery on the basic ore forming processes in a simplified language for all levels of understanding. I recommend it for all interested in understanding principles leading to concentration and emplacements of most ores

Got this book in my final year studying geology, although there is a lot in this book it helped a lot. Will be extremely useful if you start a job in the mining industry covers all the basics and more.
