Now this book does exactly what it says on the tin, it just covers the basics. After a short introduction we get a little information on feeding, pest control, crop protection, etc. It wont tax the brain or boggle the mind, think of it as a taster. We then proceed to the vegetables, each one is given two to three pages but with each accompanying photo taking up a full page space for info is constricted. So what we do get is : Site and soil, sowing and planting, care, problems, harvesting, storing and info on some varieties. Its a book that will be read in no time at all but I must say the photographs are truly inspirational ( if it's possible to be inspired by veg ! ) For a more informative read try : Vegetable growing month by month and also : Plot, pots or growbags. Enjoy !!

A great sized handy little book to add to my ever growing collection of hamlyn books.

As with all Hamlyn books you get exactly what it says on the tin. After a super introduction on how to plant a container and different composts and drainage you hit the 'recipes.'

Each page comes with it's own key on where to plant and caring tips. Great help for new gardeners who may not have the all round general plant knowledge just yet.

Wonderfully photographed and described with easy step by step instructions and even a diagram on how to plant your container this book just leaves you wanting or Spring to come.

A wonderful buy or gift for the new gardener not so taxing for the more accomplished gardener.

A great little book packed with information in a handy pocket size.

This book is perfect for the beginner looking to find out a thing or two about the basics of veg growing. Don't expect detailed descriptions or encyclopedic advice but do expect lots of inspiration presented ina clear concise fashion.

Highly recommended
