I would recommend this book for beginners learning the Yang short form. I found it very comprehensive and clear. It is quite difficult to learn tai chi from a book and this book would be best used as a back-up to a class. That said, the pictures and the captions are helpful and the use of a grid on the floor is a clever guide to direction of movement. The end of the book includes a complete picture summary of the form. So many tai chi books are full of irritating and unnecessary mystique and this one isn't, it tells you something about the background to the movements and has good models in clear positions. I thought it was a good value, relatively inexpensive buy.

Thank you for such a great book. For those of us who are interested in Tai Chi for health and relaxation this book is full of useful ways to understand and learn the Short Yang Form. I found it very helpful having a floor grid superimposed on some of the photographs, to get the correct stance. This book is very easy to read and written with panache.

I have found this book very useful and easy to read and use, and his tips on posture and how to move are all important. The opening section providing a background to Tai Chi is also very enlightening and an important part of the book. In conjunction with a plethora of youtube clips now available, you can get a good idea of the movement of this Yang Short Form

Very clear explanation through photos and accompanying text. Have found it ideal to work through the form at my own pace.

This was really pitiful. It took Yang style taiji and stripped it of anything worth doing. What total genius!
