For someone who would like to venture into electronics DIY for 21st century home - a.k.a Home Automation - this book packs so many useful ideas and techniques, hence a good starting point for home automation hobbyists (and professionals). The book is mainly based on the X10 protocol which is a standard for sending control data over household mains wiring.
X10 has been around for a long time but has no wide recognition it deserves as a candidate for automation mainly because the development of Home Automation is very patchy (no single standard exists) and very slow.
The book covers 7 chapters with general introduction followed by specific automation areas (e.g., office, kitchen and bathroom, bedroom, garage and yard) and concluding with a chapter on Advanced Techniques.
There aren't many books in Home Automation and this book provides a wealth of information in this subject area.
